Ham History
My first station, W4REZ, in 1950
in 1950
The transmitter was a band-switching AM phone/cw rig built by my friend W4ENQ and ran 150 watts to an Eimac 4-65A final, Meissner Model EX Signal Shifter vfo and Hallicrafters SX-43 receiver. Antennas were folded dipoles and a 3 element plumber's delight yagi on top of my house for 10 meters. I was really amazed how much difference a beam made over a folded dipole antenna on that band. That was before the days of the tri-band yagi.
This is my 1958 station, a Heathkit DX-100 transmitter and Collins 75A-1 receiver and a Johnson Matchbox. I ordered the DX-100 right after the first ad appeared in QST. It came in three large boxes by motor freight. I ordered the 75A-1 used from Walter Ashe Radio in St. Louis for $99. My Hy-Gain triband yagi opened a new world of DXing.

This is my 1968 station. It consists of a Swan 350 transceiver with external VFO "B", and a Galaxy 2000+ linear amplifier
My 1986 station is a Drake T-4XB transmitter, R-4C receiver, and Henry 2K2 amplifier. This was my best ever station with an interlaced full-size 20 and 15 meter 3 element yagi
and a separate 4element yagi for 10 meters.
